There were important events in Latvian equestrian sport at the Kleista sports Centre in July. It was a competition holding the CSI2*-W/CSI1*/CSIYH1* category in Latvia, which is the most important annual event in horse riding sports in Latvia, took place at the sports centre “Kleisti”. And for the first time in the history of horse riding sports in Latvia, the prestigious dressage competition of international CDI3 status took place.
The main Grand Prix route of the CSI2*-W contest is also qualification for the World Cup Final, European Championship and Olympic Games 2024 to take place in Paris.
Participation of Latvian athletes in this competition was successful, and the Latvian show jumping rider Kristaps Neretnieks with the horse Palladium KJV won 3rd place in the World Cup Central European area Riga stage Grand Prix route. The second best result among Latvians was achieved by Aigars Bregže with the horse Bacchus De Troy – seventh position was won. The Grand Prix route was important for the athletes, since it scored points for the World Cup final of this season, as well as within the qualification of the European Championship 2023 and the Paris Olympics 2024.
Despite the occasionally rather rainy weather conditions, spectators showed active support to the athletes, thus indicating the gradually growing popularity of horse riding sports, with the interest of spectators growing each year.
